Though I know I should be wary....

Still I venture someplace scary,
ghostly hauntings I turn loose,
beetlejuice...
beetlejuice...
BEETLEJUICE!

Behold a list of my all-time favorite Halloween flicks for my all-time favorite holiday! Only fully enjoyable with a bowl of candy corn, a comfy blanket, and all the lights off!

Beetlejuice
Starting off with one of my favorite movies of all time, Halloween or not, Beetlejuice! Created the year I was born, BJ has always been a part of my childhood. My first introduction to him and Lydia was in the animated series, which I will always hold a soft spot for. The movie, however, is a different matter of awesome all on its own.

Frankenweenie
I cannot seem to find this movie anywhere anymore. It used to give on the Disney channel every Halloween, but has now been replaced with things like Halloweentown II and Hannah Montana: the Halloween Episode or whatnot. Frankenweenie, directed by Tim Burton, is pretty much a cute remake of the story of Frankenstein (who is my favorite misunderstood monster of all time, by the way) in which a young boy tries to bring his deceased dog back to life.

Hocus Pocus
If my previous Polyvore on these stylish witches didn't give away the fact that I absolutely love this movie, well then I absolutely love this movie. Although, it used to scare me as a child I grew to appreciate its genius as I got older. Three witches are brought back from the dead by a rebellious virgin and some hocus pocus on Halloween. Him, his sister, and his girlcrush must work together to send the Sanderson sisters back to the grave before they suck all the lives out of the children of Salem to restore their youth. Although, Salem probably would have been flippin' sweet if they had been kept alive. Just sayin...

The Addams Family
Oh my gosh, who can resist Christina Ricci as Wednesday? Nobody! Never have I seen a more perfect casting for a movie remake of anything. Who even cares about the plot?

The Worst Witch
My love for this movie cannot be expressed in words. I remember singing along to the themesong (Growing up isn't easy/wish the time would hurry by/how much can a young girl take/mirror mirror on the wall/who's the worst witch of them all?) and relating to social outcast Mildred Hubble when I was going through elementary school. Throughout the movie, she faces her bullies and comes into her own as an esteemed witch. So inspiring, hehe.

Nightmare Before Christmas
The only Halloween movie I know of that you can get away with watching two times a year. Plus, I've just heard that they've gone and remade the entire soundtrack with contemporary bands like Shiny Toy Guns, Amina, Marilyn Manson, and Devotchka.

Stream it here!

Sleepy Hollow
Another Tim Burton flick. I'm such a huge fan of all of his movies. I love the usual atmosphere and cinematography he brings to all his creations. Sleepy Hollow is no exception, although it does have the added bonus of having Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci (as a blonde!). A charming love story blossoms over the course of the dark events in the town of Sleepy Hollow.

Under Wraps
Disney is actually good when it wants to be. Under Wraps was pure fun from start to finish, genuinely satirical with the usual Disney adult-jokes thrown in. Basically, three kids accidentally bring a mummy back to life on Halloween and they must find a way to get him back into his sarcophagus before it's too late!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
First saw this in seventh grade and pretty much watched the entire movie with my jaw hanging open in pure, unadulterated confusion. But damn was it entertaining! Musical science fiction with sex, murder, cross-dressing, aliens, and the hilarious corruption of two innocents. Worth the watch just for the Time Warp, trust me.

Amuck, amuck, amuck!

Come little children, I'll take thee away by Butterfly Interlude

I've gone and polyvore-d my costume from last year because it was so fun, flouncy, and flirty that I thought everyone should be able to enjoy it for themselves. My cape was handmade, though, to point up at the top like so. Based entirely off of the witch, Sarah Sanderson (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), from one of the best Halloween movies of all time, Hocus Pocus, mainly because if I were a mentally handicapped witch I would probably act most like her out of the three sisters. Sarah, the most whimsy and carefree of the three Sandersons, often dances around, lures children, and loves boys and spiders. She also has a gorgeous color palette for a wardrobe, thus one of the primary reasons I was drawn to it. Seriously, I would wear it every single day if society allowed. Fortunately for me, there are other alternatives for having a witch-inspired wardrobe.

Plus, there is always this option.

Everything's Just Wonderful

Upon being informed of the music celebrity themed Halloween party I'm apparently attending this year, I have decided to maybe go as Lily Allen. Pre-pink hair Lily Allen, though. Definitely.

I am really in love with that Topshop dress. I can't stop looking at it. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get my bangs to poof up like Lil' Lily's and I'll be set! Watch out karaoke machine, for I will belt out LDN and Everything's Just Wonderful with all the energy my little lungs can muster!

As Halloween approaches and I grow more and more indecisive, I will most likely be posting more Polyvores. Some others I'm working on are Alice Cullen, Lolita, Penny Lane, and Nancy Drew. Oh yeah, I have way too much fun making these!

I burn, I pine, I perish!

It's Halloween time again and, as usual, I start seeing ideas for costuming everywhere. Now, I dearly enjoyed the Sonia Rykiel collection. One dress in particular made the Halloween-loving fangirl in me scream out with Katrina Van Tassel-inspired looks.

(Sonia Rykiel dress, white tights, Viktor & Rolfe corset shoes, red topshop shawl/scarf, MAC lipstick, necklace from ebay, Katrina Van Tassel scented oil from BPAL.)

A few of my favorite pieces from Rykiel:

Gorgeous.
