and ode to the least sullen of the Cullens

Since this was such a hit over at my livejournal, I thought I'd post it here!

While Debra was off finding the man of her dreams, I was busy languishing the rest of my summer away by watching Weeds and making fanmixes for Alice Cullen.

I got tired of seeing all of the angsty, melodramatic fanmixes for Alice and decided to make a mix I thought she'd actually enjoy listening to if she were a real person (or if my personal-canon!Alice were a real person lol).

iAlice; Black Panther

The passenger door was open, and music I didn't recognize was shaking the frame when the bass played. She was singing along to the song, her voice an octave higher than the melody, weaving through it with a complicated harmony.

Disc One, Black Panther, is purely based off of what I imagine Alice's character to be like. Since practically no clues are given in the novels regarding her music taste, these are songs from different decades which I imagine would either be on her iPod (hence iAlice), or would be blasting from the speakers of her stolen yellow Porsche. Based off of my assumption that Alice is pretty up to date with her fashion sense, I also assumed that she'd be up to date with her music, so I've mixed a lot of indie with classic rock. Also, I drew inspiration from Bella's awkwardness and chose songs which I could picture her hearing in Alice's car and not recognizing.

iAlice; Shut Up and Dance

"Edward!" Alice called from beside a gigantic speaker. "I need your advice." She gestured toward a towering stack of CDs. “Should we give them familiar and comforting? Or” — she gestured to a different pile — “educate their taste in music?”

Disc Two, Shut Up and Dance, is kind of my favorite thing in the whole world, lol. For those of you that read Eclipse, remember the party that Alice throws after their graduation where Bella walks in and is like "You've got to be fucking kidding me. This is way too cool and happy for my pretentious melodrama. Woe is me"? Yeah? Remember? Right. This is the playlist for that party. This is Alice telling her angst-ridden family, overly melancholy sister-in-law, and the rest of pallid Forks to shut the fuck up and dance.
Here's a more accurate tracklisting since it was a bitch to try and fit all this info into that small space:
